The eLearning Centre is located at the City Campus, Kisumu. The Centre was established in the year 2007 to improve the quality of the overall educational experience at the University and also to meet the increasing demand for higher education in Kenya.
The university recognizes that there has been a shift in learning and teaching models in the global higher education scene, and that more emphasis now rests in increasing student independence and interdependence. There is therefore a gradual shift from assimilation of information given by the lecturer, to active learning on the part of the student. Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs) are core in this transformation.

Maseno University has adopted a blended approach to learning and teaching that combines face-to-face (F2F) with technology-based learning experiences. The eLearning Centre is key in promoting innovative learning and teaching for full time on-campus programmes, off-campus programmes at the various Learning Centres, and Open and Distance Learning (ODL) programmes.
The establishment of the eLearning Centre is therefore a great stride by the University to equip both the lecturers and the students with the intellectual and interpersonal skills and resources necessary for a workforce that will increasingly be dependent upon ICTs for their day-to-day workplace demands.
