KUSA WESTERN GAMES HELD ON 16TH TO 17TH NOVEMBER 2019 AT KAIMOSI FRIENDS UNIVERSITY COLLEGE

Maseno University was represented in the Keya Universities Sports Association (KUSA) Western Conference Circuit IV matches by Volleyball men, Handball men, Frisbee Ultimate and Tennis Women.

Other institutions present were University of Kabianga, Masinde Muliro, Kaimosi Friends, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga and Kisii University, Kibabii University and Tom Mboya University College.

Overal Results:

  1.  Frisbee was ranked position three (Bronze) out of five
  2. Tennis women were ranked position two (Silver) out of eight
  3. Volleyball men and Handball Men were ranked 6th and 7th respectively

Frisbee Ultimate
There were a total of five teams: MMUST, Rongo, Kaimosi, Maseno and Kabianga. The tournament was played on round robin basis: Score margins were:

  1. Maseno vs Kaimosi 06:09
  2. Maseno vs Rongo:12:00
  3. MMUST vs Maseno: 14:03
  4. Maseno vs Kabianga: 14:08

The win –loss ratio of 2:2 placed us in the semi-finals piting us against the hosts Kaimosi. The hosts carried the day with a narrow win of 10:09 hence Maseno was inally ranked position three and awarded a Bronze medal

These were the outcomes of games participated by students from Maseno.

Tennis Women
The formidable team led by Sally Otieno was placed in pool A amongst Kabianga, Jooust and Tom Mboya Universities. Maseno won all their preliminary matches and set a semi-final date with Kisii. We managed a narrow win of 6:5 and booked to play in the finals against MMUST. MMUST were too good for us winning the final easily by 6:0.Hence Maseno was ranked second and awarded a silver medal.

Volleyball men
Placed in the pool of death, the team was walloped 3-0 by MMUST in the opening match and struggled later to beat hosts Kaimosi 3-1. This team was bundled out in the quarters by the defending champions Kisii University 3-1.

Handball Men
Maseno University began on the wrong footing where they lost the opening match to Rongo University 23:16 . They recovered in the second match and beat Kabianga 27:21 and booked a quarter-final slot against Kibabii University, only to be bundled out 15:09.
