AKILI DADA CONTINUES TO INSPIRE STUDENTS THROUGH ‘WASHA’ PROGRAM

 

Akili Dada Organization once again hosted a successful event at Maseno University dubbed ‘VDAY’ on 7th February 2020, with the aim of sensitization against gender related violence amongst campus students.


Hosted by Doris Mugambi, the even had an open platform for students, with topics geared towards empowering women against sexual abuse and harassments within campus. Students were given an opportunity to share their day to day challenges with regards to sexual violence and how they have managed to overcome such obstacles.

 

With emotions running high, captivating stories were shared, as documentaries on the same were also aired.  Speaking at the event, Maseno University’s Dean, School of Gender Studies, Dr. Nyang’ara encouraged students to be brave and to feel confident and report any cases of Gender Violence to her office, issuing a hotline number.  She confirmed that Maseno University has put up measures that would ensure cases of Gender Violence are forgotten in the University.
