Maseno University gladly takes over Moi University’s Odera Akang’o College Campus

Maseno University finalized the acquisition of Moi University’s Odera Akang’o Campus on Tuesday 20th April. During the official transfer, the event saw leaders from across the county in attendance led by the Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha as the chief guest.

At the event, key Education Stake holders were also present, with senior University officials from both Moi and Maseno University led by the Chair of Councils from both institutions witnessing the occasion. Speaking at the ceremony, Maseno University’s Vice-Chancellor Prof. Julius Nyabundi said, “This is a historic moment and an attractive opportunity.”

He added that,” Acquisition of this prime facility gives us a better opportunity to serve more students who need our brand of excellence, education, and care, we have always needed to increase the size of our footprint, build on our key academic programs, grow our research base and enhance our economic impact on the country’s economy. We could not be any more pleased about adding this incredible Prof. Ogot’s brand legacy, which will see many more continuing students and dozens of dedicated employees joining Maseno University’s Education fraternity.”

Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. Magoha speaking at the event, advised Maseno University’s Vice-Chancellor to rename the institution from a college campus to a research center. Maseno University’s Vice-Chancellor remains optimistic that the campus will be put to good use and he will ensure Maseno University takes a leading role to ensure Yala town and Siaya County economy are boosted with the revenue that this new campus will generate.
