Maseno University staff, administration, students and the community recently held an interdenominational prayer at the Graduation Square, Siriba Campus. The event’s main objective was to bless the University and promote good relations between Maseno University and the surrounding community.

The event was that was organized by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic and Student Affairs, Prof.Mary Kipsat in collaboration with the Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA), Christian Union and the Catholic Students Association was graced by former Rift Valley Provincial Commissioner Mr. Peter Raburu.

The service was officiated by Dr. Bishop Joseph Likavo, the founder of International Vision Center based in Eldoret.

Dr.Likavo urged the University fraternity to promote unity amongst each other. “We can only end tribalism, unhealthy competition and conflicts in our institutions by simply knowing who we are. This will lead to quality relationship amongst us as everybody is at a human level. We should stop judging others on tribal lines or physique,” he said.

However, this was punctuated by Mr. Raburu who echoed and emphasized that unity is what will end frequent strikes. He urged the administration to listen to complaints raised by students and not judge them by their level as this he said will help reduce commotion between the administration and the students which results into strikes.

The session ended with prayers from the representatives from administration, Prof.Mary Kipsat, the student body, the community, the non-teaching staff, and the clergymen who blessed the University and all its environs.
