Mr. Joe Mucheru, Cabinet Secretary ICT is welcomed by Prof. Julius Nyabundi, Vice-Chancellor, Maseno University, 

Mr. Joe Mucheru, the Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) gave a Public Lecture to students on 5th April 2017 at the Millenium Hall (15).

The main objective of the lecture was to update the students on opportunities that the Government is creating for the youth in the line Ministry.
In his lecture, the CS explained that the Government is creating an enabling environment for ICT to thrive by building infrastructure such as constituency innovation hubs known as Ajira-Digital and Presidential literacy programme.

“The programme aims at creating a pool of online workers and is targeting up to one million Kenyans who inturn will create other jobs in the emerging markets,” he noted.
Mr. Mucheru said that the programme will also introduce young people to online work by providing them with tools, training and mentorship to work and earn through it. This is in line with the Government’s promise to job creation and a response to a world that is first landing to efficiency.

Present at the lecture from Maseno University were Prof. Julius Nyabundi, Vice-Chancellor, Maseno University, Deputy Vice-Chancellors, Deans and Directors.

Accompanying the CS was Mr. Joe Okudo, Principal Secretary, Arts and Culture, Sammy Itemere, Principal Secretary, Broadcasting and Telecommunication, Mr. Thomas Khwaka, Deputy Director In-Charge of State Branding and Events and Mr. Robert Mugo, Acting Chief Executive Officer, ICT Authority.
