COMMUNICATIONS & MEDIA ALUMNI SYMPOSIUM CAREER OPEN DAY

“Alumni Symposium/ Career Day,” that took place on 8th March 2019 at the Boardroom, Siriba Campus was a joint effort of the Maseno University Department of Media & Communications and the Maseno University Media & Comm alumni association. The Alumni Symposium was the first of its kind in the University’s history.

The theme for the day was; Some are born great, some achieve greatness and some hire public relations officers.
The day was commemorated by several alumni of the Communication and Media Technology department, from the year 2001 to the current graduates of 2018. The alumni spoke to the need for mentorship. Additionally, they shared insights on the media market, job prospects, gave career talks, told of their experiences in the media industry with the students.

“Somebody somewhere held our hands and showed us the way, so we thought we’d do the same, so that when you graduate from Maseno University, you are a journalist 360˚,” Verah Vashti Okeyo – Global Health Reporter, Nation Media Group and an alumnus.

6. Joseph Bonyo – News Editor & Business Editor at Citizen TV
7. Verah Vashti Okeyo – Global Health Reporter, Nation Media Group.
8. Killiad Msafiri – Social Media Sub-editor, Standard Group
9. Japhet Kirimi – Engage PR Agency
10. Peter Kabugi Mwangi – CEO, SmartPic.

· Media Business (Those in media business/entrepreneurs)
· Academia.
