The journey towards ISO Certification that begun in the year 2007 finally came to fruition on the 1st of April 2011 when the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) certified Maseno University. Since then Quality Management System (QMS) has been fully implemented by Maseno University. In order to constantly comply with system’s requirements, the University has been audited and found to comply with ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management Systems – Requirements.
The management of Maseno University once again takes this opportunity to thank all stakeholders who stood by the organization during the pre-certification period, certification, establishment, documentation, implementation and auditing of our Quality Management System. The University now prides itself as one of the institutions that have integrated the QMS system into their management system in accordance to international quality standards. Given the accruing benefits that have been noted since certification of the institution, it could be safe to contending that the adoption of the Quality Management System was considerably a strategic decision on the part of the University that has so far considerably inﬂuenced varying needs, objectives, products/services provided by the University.
The Quality Management System has also enabled the organization achieve the goals and objectives set out in its policy documents and strategic plans. It is expected to provide consistency and satisfaction in terms of methods, materials, and equipment. Evidence of the University’s commitment to customer focus is discernible from the structures developed that give precedence to customer requirements and satisfaction of their identified needs at every transaction interface. The University has also established a Quality Management System that ensures that the organization’s products/services also conform to statutory and regulatory requirements, customer needs and expectations as well as the objectives of Maseno University.
