On the 23th June 2022 Maseno University hosted the 10th Kenya Chemical Society international conference.
The Kenya Chemical Society (KCS) is a non-political scientific and professional body governing the chemical profession in Kenya. It brings together chemists and allied professionals in government, academia, research, industry and business, both locally and in the diaspora.

The conference was opened by Maseno University Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Julius Nyabundi, had a main aim of discussing the current challenges in achieving sustainable development through green chemistry, innovation and technology.
Sub-themes covered included: Green Chemistry and circular economy in research and development, Innovative technologies and policies for sustainable development, Chemical safety management and security, Sustainable Agriculture, water, food safety and security. In addition, Climate Change, Environmental pollution and mitigation.

During his opening remarks, Western Chapter Chairperson, Prof. Fredrick Kengara congratulated all for the immense attendance, commitment, active participation and support by Maseno University.

Objectives: 
1. To share research ideas, methodologies and outcomes in Green Chemistry and Circular Economy. 
2. To discuss issues of chemical safety and security alongside occupational health safety. 
3. To initiate Responsible Care in Chemical Management 
4. To address the challenges at the energy, materials, food, water nexus through green chemistry 
5. To address the challenges of climate change, environmental pollution and mitigation strategies.
