CUE and KMPDC Conduct Inspection Visit at Maseno University School of Medicine

Commission for University Education (CUE) and Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) on 30th March 2026 carried out a joint inspection visit at Maseno University, focusing on the School of Medicine and its training facilities.
The delegation was received for a courtesy call at the Vice Chancellor’s Boardroom by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Erick Nyambedha. He welcomed the teams and reaffirmed the University’s commitment to upholding high standards in medical education, research and training.
The KMPDC team was led by its Chair, Prof. Fredrick Were, while the CUE delegation included Quality Assurance leadership under Prof. Paul Mnoki Nzioki. The visit forms part of ongoing efforts by the regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with national standards and continuous improvement in medical training institutions.
 

Following the courtesy call, the teams conducted an inspection of the School of Medicine, visiting lecture halls, laboratories and key learning centres. They also engaged with staff and students to assess curriculum delivery, availability of teaching and learning resources, staff capacity and alignment with accreditation requirements.
The inspection further evaluated the University’s integration of practical and clinical training, including partnerships that support hands-on learning for students. The delegation also took note of advancements in digital learning and research initiatives within the institution.
The visit underscores the importance of quality assurance in higher education and highlights Maseno University’s continued commitment to excellence in training competent healthcare professionals. Recommendations from the exercise will inform ongoing improvements within the School of Medicine.
