Maseno University has formalized a strategic partnership with the Kenya Red Cross Society through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing humanitarian collaboration and promoting student engagement in emergency response and disaster preparedness.

This partnership sets the framework for cooperation in key areas such as disaster risk reduction, community health outreach, emergency training, volunteerism, and institutional capacity building. It also aims to provide students with practical experience through internships, fieldwork, and collaborative programs in humanitarian service delivery.

The Kenya Red Cross, through this agreement, intends to expand its outreach and strengthen its collaboration with higher education institutions, recognizing the role of universities in producing skilled professionals capable of addressing contemporary challenges in humanitarian response. For Maseno University, the partnership is aligned with its goal of equipping graduates with both academic knowledge and practical skills that are relevant to societal needs.

The MoU was signed on August 4, 2025, during a courtesy call by the Kenya Red Cross delegation to the Office of the Vice Chancellor. The delegation was led by the Secretary General of the Kenya Red Cross Society, Dr. Ahmed Idris. Representing Maseno University at the ceremony was the Ag. Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Partnership Research and Innovation,
Prof. Ogonji Agune, who signed the agreement on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Julius O. Nyabundi
