Maseno University Association of Business Students (MUABS) successfully held a transformative Career Talk that brought together leading financial and mentorship organizations, including Old Mutual, Faulu Microfinance Bank, and Aiducation International on 20th September, 2025. The event was organized under the patronage of Dr. Caroline Oloo, Patron of MUABS, and Dr. Renson Wanyonyi, the Deputy Patron. Leadership from the association was also well represented, with Ms. Comfort Alung’ati, Chairperson of MUABS, coordinating the program.
The primary beneficiaries of this initiative were students pursuing business-related courses. The event offered them an opportunity to engage directly with corporate professionals, gain insights into industry expectations, and develop essential career preparedness skills. Old Mutual emphasized that the central objective of the career talk was to prepare students for the competitive corporate world, build resilience, expose them to emerging business trends, and guide them on pathways to professional growth.

The sessions were marked by engaging and practical role-playing discussions. Mr. Breneen Maloba, Culture and Change Lead EA at Old Mutual delivered a detailed presentation on the organization’s Employer Value Proposition and explained the qualifications and pathways available for students aspiring to join the prestigious Old Mutual Academy. His presentation highlighted the importance of aligning academic knowledge with employer expectations in today’s competitive environment.
Adding to this, Ms. Margaret Muthura, Corporate Affairs Officer, Old Mutual conducted an interactive session where students actively participated in mock CV writing, job application exercises, and interview simulations. She went further to explain emerging business trends and challenged students to remain innovative, adaptable, and forward-thinking as they prepared for careers in an ever-changing business environment.
