Maseno University, in Collaboration with Standard Chartered Bank – Kisumu Branch, Tree Donation and Planting Exercise
Maseno University, in collaboration with Standard Chartered Bank – Kisumu Branch, conducted a tree donation and planting exercise as part of the bank’s ongoing corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.**
The initiative was led by Mr. Hannington Odhiambo, the Branch Manager.
Held on Friday, 12th September 2025, the exercise took place on university land adjacent to the Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI). The bank donated 2,000 indigenous tree seedlings, which were planted during the event.
Participants included students from the Maseno University UNESCO Club, members of the Maseno University Environmental Students Association (MUESA), staff from Standard Chartered Bank, and officers from the Forestry Department.
The day began with a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, who officially flagged off the tree planting activity. The event was coordinated by Samson Moracha, Assistant Registrar for Partnerships, Research, and Innovations.
