Maseno University Hosts the Commission for University Education for National Research Initiative on Disruptive Technologies

Maseno University had the hosted representatives from the Commission for University Education (CUE) as part of a national research initiative under the DELL Technologies project, titled "Disruptive Technologies in Higher Education: Implementation, Impact, and Strategic Responses." This important study, led by its Principal Investigator Dr. David Muthaka, seeks to examine the transformative impact of disruptive technologies on teaching, learning, and administrative functions across universities in Kenya.
As one of the institutions selected for the national survey, Maseno University was recognized for its ongoing
commitment to innovation and digital transformation in higher education. The focus of the assessment was to
evaluate the University’s preparedness and strategic responses to emerging technological trends in academic and
administrative spheres.
Students from the School of Medicine actively participated in the assessment, offering valuable perspectives on the
integration of digital tools in both theoretical instruction and clinical training environments.
The data collection process was facilitated by Dr. David Muthaka, together with Mr. Brian Muganda from the
Commission. Activities included focus group discussions, structured group exercises, policy review sessions, and
interactive engagements with various University stakeholders.
This collaborative engagement underscored Maseno University’s dedication to fostering a technology-enhanced
learning environment and reaffirmed its role as a leading institution contributing to research-informed national
education reforms.
