Maseno University Hosts Latvian Scholars to Strengthen Academic and Research Collaboration
Maseno University on 23rd March 2026 welcomed scholars from Daugavpils University, who paid a courtesy call to the Vice-Chancellor in a visit aimed at deepening academic and research ties between the two institutions.
The engagement highlighted a shared vision of building strong international partnerships that promote innovation, knowledge exchange, and practical learning opportunities for students and faculty alike. At the heart of the discussions was a proposed collaboration with the Department of Music at Maseno University.
One of the key ideas explored is the establishment of a Modern Music Laboratory that would give students hands-on experience in areas such as music production, sound recording and editing, digital composition, instrumental training and audio-visual performance analysis. The facility is expected to open up new creative and professional pathways for learners while aligning training with global industry standards.
The visit also comes at a time when Maseno University is investing in state-of-the-art infrastructure, including the construction of an ultra-modern laboratory complex. This development is part of the University’s broader effort to create an enabling environment for cutting-edge research and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Another important aspect of the discussions focused on the possibility of facilitating access to specialized research equipment through the partnership. Such support would significantly enhance research capacity, improve practical training, and strengthen the quality of academic output.
The visit by the Daugavpils University scholars marks a promising step toward a long-term partnership, reflecting both institutions’ commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and global engagement.
