Maseno University Hosts State Department for Higher Education and Research Delegation
Maseno University was honored to host a delegation from the Ministry of Education’s State Department for Higher Education and Research (SDHER) as part of the national Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Programme aimed at assessing the teaching and learning environment in public universities.
The visit commenced with a high-level meeting at the Vice Chancellor’s Boardroom, where the guests were welcomed by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Erick Nyambedha who represented the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Julius Nyabundi, alongside other members of the University management team.
Subsequent discussions were held at the University Boardroom, during which the Ministry’s team reviewed the evaluation objectives, methodology, and expectations with the university representatives. The discussions went on for three subsequent days.
Following the sessions, the visitors were taken on a guided tour of the university's landmark infrastructure.
Key highlights included the newly constructed Tuition Block, the state-of-the-art Nyabundi Hostels, the University Library, as well as the equipped Maseno Radio and Television Studios. These facilities demonstrate Maseno University’s commitment to providing a conducive learning and living environment for its students.
As part of the evaluation exercise, the Ministry issued a comprehensive questionnaire to the University for Completion, aimed at gathering critical data to inform further development initiatives.
The visit underscored Maseno University’s readiness to collaborate with national authorities in enhancing the quality and sustainability of higher education in Kenya.
