The delegation, comprising exchange students and academic representatives from NTNU, was formally welcomed by Prof. Rose O. Ongati, Director Linkages, Outreach and Consultancies, Maseno University in collaboration with Directorate of Public Relations, Maseno University. This visit is part of a strategic partnership that began three years ago, uniting NTNU, Maseno University and KSHI in a tripartite collaboration focused on healthcare development and cross-cultural learning.
KSHI played a pivotal role in initiating this partnership, first collaborating with NTNU before incorporating Maseno University as the local academic partner. Since then, the relationship has evolved into a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange, capacity building and experimental learning for nursing students from both Kenya and NORWAY.
Though this partnership, Maseno University students benefit from:
• Participation in exchange programs hosted by NTNU.
• Exposure to international guest lectures by Norwegian scholars.
• Hands on clinical placements in local healthcare facilities.
• Immersive cultural experiences that foster global perspectives in healthcare delivery.
Feedback from previous NTNU exchange cohorts has been overwhelmingly positive. Norwegian students have praised Maseno University for its academic excellence, warm hospitality and the rich cultural and clinical exposure provided during their stay. These interactions have not only broadened their professional perspective but have also deepened mutual understanding between the Kenyan and Norwegian healthcare systems.
Prof. Rose O. Ongati, Director of the Directorate Linkages, Outreach and Consultancies emphasized the significance of such international partnerships in enhancing the global relevance of higher education.
“This collaboration exemplifies our commitment to cultivating to cultivating global citizens who are equipped to address healthcare challenges across diverse contexts,” she stated.
This program is one of 164 active collaboration and partnerships currently held by Maseno University.
As the current group of NTNU students continues their activities in Kenya, Maseno University reaffirms its commitment to supporting their academic and cultural journey, ensuring a memorable and impactful experience.
