He urged the new students to approach their studies with seriousness, stressing that academic success is built on hard work, discipline, and personal responsibility. He encouraged them to attend lectures consistently, engage meaningfully with their lecturers, and make full use of the academic resources and support systems available on campus.

He reminded the freshmen that University life brings with it greater freedom — and, in equal measure, greater responsibility. He called on them to familiarize themselves with, and strictly adhere to, the University's rules and regulations, noting that discipline underpins a conducive environment for both learning and personal growth.

He further urged students to conduct themselves with respect, integrity, and accountability in their interactions with peers, staff, and the wider university community, noting that the choices they make now will shape their academic and professional futures.

Beyond the lecture hall, he encouraged freshmen to explore the diverse opportunities available at Maseno University — including research, innovation, leadership, sports, and cultural and co-curricular activities — describing them as vital to nurturing well-rounded graduates.
