The PrAEctiCe CWEN (Circular Water-Energy-Nutrient Systems) Agroecology final conference held at the National Research Organization (NARO), Entebbe, Uganda.

The conference designed by the PrAEctiCe Horizon Europe project, funded by the European Commission, lead discussions and present evidence on how circular water energy-nutrient systems developed and tested through three living labs in East Africa can serve as effective agroecological solutions for sustainable water use, climate resilience, and improve the productivity of smallholder farmers in low-income countries.

Participants: The participants for the conference included Consortium members, Academia, Agriculture Technology Companies, Small-Scale farmers, Farmers’ Associations, Women’s Associations, Policy makers, Private Sector Businesses, Agricultural Input Suppliers, Extension Agents, Development Partners, and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs).



Dr. Erick Ogello the Principal Investigator for Maseno University ( as a partner) and a Senior Lecturer in the
School of Agriculture, Food Security and Environmental Sciences, makes a key note presentation titled 'Measuring Agroecology in East Africa: The PrAEctiCe indicator frameworks, developed for smallholder farming systems' during the ongoing final PrAEectiCe project conference in Entebbe, Uganda. The project has generated clear pathways of agroecological transition by smallholder farmers. Maseno University developed agroecology indicator frameworks suitable for the East African context.
