Prof. Regina Nyunja joins Maseno University as Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Partnership, Research and Innovation
Maseno University is pleased to announce the appointment of Prof. Regina Nyunja PhD as the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Partnership, Research and Innovation. Prof. Nyunja brings extensive experience in academic leadership and scientific research. Having previously served at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST) as Head of Department of Biological Sciences and later Dean, School of Biological and Physical Sciences.
While at JOOUST, Prof. Nyunja led a key international climate change project in collaboration with institutions in Belgium including, The University of Gent and Brussels University. The initiative focused on training postgraduate students on climate change issues and creating awareness within communities about the value of nature and the environment. Her leadership in this area has significantly advanced both academic research and community engagement.
An alumnus of Maseno University, Prof. Nyunja completed her doctoral studies with a dissertation titled “The Diversity of Medicinal Plant in Kakamega Forest: A Taxonomic and Pharmacological Approach.” She returns to her alma mater with bold vision to elevate Maseno University as a hub of Research Excellence, citing its’ strategic location near water bodies, and accessible land as key resources for hands-on research. The University warmly welcomes Professor Nyunja as she takes on this pivotal role in steering innovation and partnership growth.
