Public Health Regulators Board Visits Maseno University to re-inspect the BSc Public Health With IT Programme
Maseno University hosted a re-inspection exercise for the Bachelor of Science in Public Health with IT programme following a courtesy visit by a delegation from the Public Health Officers and Technicians Council (PHOTC). The engagement took place at the Vice-Chancellor’s boardroom and forms part of PHOTC’s mandate to ensure quality assurance, compliance, and continuous improvement of accredited academic programmes.
The meeting was officially opened by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academics & Student Affairs (ASA), Prof. Erick Nyambedha, who welcomed the PHOTC team and reaffirmed the University’s commitment to maintaining high academic and professional standards. Dr. Lilian Ogonda, Dean, School of Public Health and Community Development was also in attendance and delivered brief remarks highlighting the School’s progress, achievements, and dedication to implementing regulatory recommendations. The PHOTC delegation was led by the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. John Kariuki, accompanied by other council officials.
During the session, Dr. Doreen Othero, Chair of Department of Public Health made a detailed presentation on the status of implementation of previous PHOTC recommendations, which guided discussions between the University management and the PHOTC team. The re-inspection exercise will further include a comprehensive tour of key University facilities, including the University library, lecture halls, demonstration garden, laboratories, and offices, to assess the adequacy of infrastructure and resources supporting the programme.
